Fun Ways to Exercise

There are many different ways to exercise, and fun ways to exercise are probably going to be up there on the list. I am not sure what the best exercise is, for everyone. It may be a matter of personal preference. However, if you are looking for some fun ways to exercise and are not too concerned about how hard or easy the exercise might be, read on.

By nature, exercising has to push the body beyond comfort zones to place enough stress on the muscles to create physiological adaptations. If exercising is not at all challenging, it is not really exercising. Science actually says otherwise.

The key to any good workout is heart rate. If you do not keep your heart rate up, then you are not exercising. In fact, if you try to do too much of the same type of exercise you are probably overdoing it, and that is not fun. So, the first step is to find something new to do that keeps your heart rate up.

Walking or jogging

Many people like to get active during the day, such as walking or jogging. For others, they enjoy cooking, playing video games, or watching TV. For still others, they like to spend their spare time socializing with friends or family. No matter who you are, if you are interested in keeping your heart rate up, you should consider an exciting workout. This could be something new you never tried before, such as rock climbing, or taking a jog in the park. There are many benefits to exercising, so you should consider some of these ideas.

Rock climbing

Rock climbing is one of my favorite fun ways to exercise because it forces you to be in physical discomfort and to think of a goal. Some call this mental toughness, and I think it is just wonderful. Think about the last time you really enjoyed working out – maybe a long time ago you broke a finger and had to take a few days off. But after a few days, you were back to your old self, and you loved it. If you have never tried rock climbing, I highly recommend it.

Squat workouts

Squat workouts are also among the best fun ways to exercise, because not only can you do them anywhere, but they are also good for your knees and back. You do not have to climb to do squats, as you can also perform them sitting down. Sit-ups are another great workout because they stretch your entire core, including your legs. One thing to remember when doing sit-ups is to make exercise part of your daily routine, otherwise, you will get bored and stop doing it.

Cycling and rowing

Some other fun ways to exercise are cycling, rowing, hiking, mountain climbing, and even yoga. Cycling and rowing are very aerobic workouts, while mountain climbing, hiking, and yoga are great for a full-body workout. These types of workouts are considered peak-end exercises, which means they are made to reach your peak physical fitness goal during your workout.

Aerobics

Another fun way to exercise is to do 30 minutes of aerobics in the privacy of your home. Aerobics is a great physical activity and can be a great way to stay healthy, as well as keep your mind active. If you like to jog, run, bike, swim, or do yoga, doing those exercises in the privacy of your own home is even better. Go ahead, spend thirty minutes doing whatever it is you enjoy most. You’ll feel great and will be better able to manage your weight.

So…

Now that you know there are fun ways to exercise, what are you waiting for? Don’t exercise if you don’t have to! If you are in a hurry, don’t exercise at a gym you don’t like. Take the stairs instead, or try to find a new route to the gym. Whatever you do, enjoy yourself while you are getting healthy, and soon you’ll have a toned body and a stronger heart.

So why not use your imagination and design your own fun ways to exercise? You could make an exercise program around something you like: a book, video, musical instrument, sport, movie, song, or whatever else you can think of. The point is that you are not sitting in front of a computer screen, so it doesn’t matter what the rest of the world thinks of your physical activity, as long as you are happy with it.
